The True Rags To Riches Story With Dr Robb Kelly

Robb was a doctor living in a million-dollar house with his wife and kids. He drove a Porsche 911 and earned well over a quarter of a million dollars a year. If most of us work up in his shoes we would think we had won the lottery. But this wasn't the full story.

Robbs drinking was worse than ever and he would blackout, not for hours or days but for weeks and he couldn't remember what had happened. On top of the lost days, his violence was getting worse to the point where he stabbed his wife three times because she wouldn't let him drink. He was heading in a direction he could have never imagined.

One by one everyone abandoned him. They all walked away, his wife, kids and friends. He lost everything including his doctor's license. When he finally woke up from the drunken haze it was 6 months later when he was homeless sleeping under bus shelters.

Addiction is the only illness that tells you you don't have it

Dr Robb Kelly

Despite the situation Robb found himself in, he got to a 12 step meeting. He discovered he was not on his own and he had a disease, a terminal illness and he could make a daily reprieve. He worked the steps with his sponsor, read the big book and kept going to meetings.

The question isn't 'am I going to drink today' it is 'Am I going to live today'

Dr Robb Kelly

Robb is a spiritual guy and has a strong daily routine. Every day he prays to the universe, calls his sponsor and sponsees. He also does mirror work where he looks at himself in the mirror and says I love you 10 times. This convinces him that he is worthy and that he isn't worthless. During the podcast, I really felt the importance that Robb placed on self-care and I think we can all take a leaf out of his book on this one.

But Robb has come a long way from sleeping rough. He now lives in a million-dollar house in Texas with his 4 dogs, 3 cats and his beautiful wife. They both drive nice cars and he keeps 1 million dollars in cash. But I don't tell you this to impress you but impress upon you that it is possible to grow and become your best self.

Robb works to never forget where he has come from. He works with clients daily to help them overcome their addiction. Even at 11 o'clock at night when he is about to go to bed and he gets a call from a sponsee he will answer and help where he can. He really has done the inner work and told me that even if he lost it all tomorrow he would still be happy, joyous and free.

Robb explains the three core concepts that keep most of us addicts stuck in addiction. He explains them as fear, abandonment and shame. During the podcast we dive deep into each one and how Robbs work helps clients reprogram there mind and why he gets a 95% success rate whereas rehabs are lucky to get above 5%.

Watch or listen to the episode to hear me and rob cover everything above and lots, lots more.
